Bronze Plaques can be used with most of our teak armchairs and seats, normally positioned on the front of the top rail. The plaque inscription is in 6mm block lettering, filled with vitreous cream enamel that is not affected by an outdoor environment. A soft filling often used on plaques sited inside a building is totally unsuitable for use outdoors and should be avoided. Our plaques are recessed to finish flush with the surface of the seat rail with a hidden fixing that leaves the visible face of the plaque clear and makes its unauthorized removal difficult.

  1. Brass Plaque - £49.00
    Offering a traditional style look for your inscription. A standard size of plaque is 50mm high x 153mm wide with a maximum word count of 18 over 5 lines. Other sizing is available on request - please enquire.

    Providing a contemporary style look with a silver shine that will not rust. A standard size of plaque is 50mm high x 153mm wide with a maximum word count of 18 over 5 lines. Other sizing is available on request - please enquire.

  3. Direct Wood Engraving - £169.00
    Your inscription is carved directly into the timber with a 'straight cut' by a computer-aided engraving machine. A direct engraving will mellow down along with the bench to a silver/grey finish if left untreated. A maximum word count of 30 over two lines is allowed, logo engraving is available with suitable artwork.

BENCH ANCHORS
Should you wish to fix your bench more permanently to an area so that it cannot be easily moved there are two types of anchors available, designed for different surfaces. 

  • Soft Ground Anchor - BA1 £80 / BA2 (includes installation tool) £105
    A soft ground anchor kit avoids the need for concrete. Installation is quick and easy without any mess. Anchors come with solid brass plates that screw onto the outside legs. These have sleeves to allow the anchors to pass through and penetrate the lawn surface. When an anchor approaches its maximum depth (500mm) a curved fluke is released to grip the bench further into the surface, adding more security.

  • Hard Ground Anchor - BA3 £45
    Bolt down anchors are designed to be used with concrete. They have a maximum depth of 110mm and require a 20mm masonary drill bit to install them.

PERSONALISE MEMORIAL BENCH

Barlow Tyrie have a 100 year heritage and are regarded as the "Rolls Royce" of garden furniture. You have two options to choose from to personalise your memorial bench.

  1. Bronze Plaque Engraving - £69 for plaque and £3.60 per plaque letter inscribed
    Bronze plaques have their lettering set in cream vitreous enamel. The finished plaque is then recessed into the face of the rail and held in position using a special hidden vandal-proof fitting. A 57mm deep (approx. 2") bronze plaque with 6mm – (0.25") block letters is supplied as standard, see detailed image. However plaques can be made bespoke to any size with a choice of lettering and font styles available – please inquire.

  2. Carved Wood Inscription -  £2 per letter (in serif font)
    3D-lettering is carved in a traditional serif typeface using a ‘V’- cut, which has the added advantage in that it allows your inscription to be read easily from the side as well as from immediately in front over a standard ‘straight-cut’ letter.

    An inscription service is normally supplied in capital letters using a ‘Times New Roman’ serif font at 2.5cm (1") in height. If more than one line of text is required there might be a need to reduce the height of text depending on the model of seat. 

    The maximum number of characters and length of an inscription will depend on the seat model, the length of the seat, the height of text, whether upper or lower case or the font used. The Barlow Tyrie Rothesay seat allows 3 rows of text whilst other seats can only accommodate up to 2 rows.

    Times New Roman is the standard font but for something different Barlow Tyrie are able to supply bespoke inscriptions in other fonts plus inscriptions in foreign language scripts such as Chinese or Arabic. 

    A teak panel in a seat back with a logo or a club crest is also a bespoke option if suitable artwork is available – please inquire.

BENCH SECURITY FASTENERS
Two types of security fastener are available from Barlow Tyrie to prevent the unauthorised movement of seats or other items in public areas.

  • Stainless Steel Seat Fixing Irons (Set of 2)
    Anchors a bench or chair into the ground to prevent unauthorised movement. These fasteners must be cast into a concrete block.
